I guess we really do love motorcycles, even miniature ones. A group of us at the station have pocket bikes and yeah, we race em'! After our first race we were hooked and had a blast. My daughter was the pit crew chief and she did so well and had such a good time, that I bought her one for Christmas. She doesn't race yet but loves to ride around and have a good time. The very first time she ever rode it she just got on and took off without a hitch. A few tumbles along the way since but in full protective gear she walks away.
It's important to note that although these things look like toys, they're not. They can reach speeds of close to 40mph right out of the box and are extremely twitchy little rockets to ride. They are certainly not the best PB's you can get as you can spend upwards of $3000.00 on the nice ones. These are Caglary's, cheap, but nice chinese imports that look good and perform well.
We have 100 cones from Walmart which turns any safe and out of the way parking lot into a race track. The last one we did was a figure eight death match, and we played a round of tag on them too. There was lots of carnage and broken fairings on that one. We also managed to make our way up to a dirt bike track and did some table tops jumps. Well they weren't quite table tops as you would imagine them, at the top of the jump the bike went one way and we went the other. Oh well, that's the beauty of these things, wreck em' and jump right back on for more.
We always were protective gear and we don't ride them on the public streets. These things are not street legal and you would get smooshed if you tried. We like to call this PBNS Racing! If you would like to learn more the following website, PocketBikePlanet.com , is an excellent resource. |
