| The worlds fastest production motorcycle (Guiness Book of World Records). Since the bikes introduction in 1999 it has fought off every challenger as king of the road and built a menacing reputation. With just minor updates the only thing that has changed in six model years are the colors, and it still hasn't been beat. Not even the Kawasaki ZX12R which was purpose built to beat the Hayabusa could do so. It has been tested to do 200mph in stock form (Bike Magazine June 1999) and is capable of doing the quarter mile in the high 9's, stock. The Busa delivers more torque to the rear wheel then it's nearest competitor can at the crank, and can deliver it from 3500rpm to redline. The bike weighs in at a little over 500lbs wet, which gives it a freight train type stability and comfort. But don't be fooled, the Busa can corner too (see PIR photo's below). It is one of the most complete motrocycle packages ever produced and with it's unique ram air system that adds up to 15hp at speed, the bike just never stops accelerating. |

| The symbol is unmistakeable. An ancient form of Japanese and Chinese writing known as Kanji. The symbol means "Falcon" and is pronounced "Hayabusa". The Japanese Perigrine Falcon the bike is named after is the fastest bird on earth, and can dive at 186mph. The Falcon also likes to eat Blackbirds, sorry Honda! In 2001 the bike manufacturers under pressure agreed to limit the bike speeds to 300kph, or 186mph. Oops, I'm sure Kawasaki didn't know the signifigance of using that number. The Hayabusa's speed is limited by a reduced RPM redline in sixth gear. This is bypassed using a device (TRE) that fools the bikes ECU into thinking it's in 5th gear, so the restriction is eliminated. |
